I’ll try to get a clearer photo of this outfit some other time. I’m running out the door now. I’ve got to finish some errands, but here’s a good example of how Cassie layers and plays with patterns. The skirt was made from fabric bought at Ikea and sent to a tailor.
These screen shots are a little rough b/c of the movement happening on screen. One thing I love about Cassie’s clothing choices is that she layers… her pantyhose/tights. Here’s another example. She also plays with patterns. Again: on trend for this spring season.
Another glimpse of the makeup though a bit messy. Her makeup always looks a bit messy, but it’s better that way. It looks more realistic seeing as she’s a “spacey” teenager. She’s also crying here as she over hears Sid’s phone call to Michelle.

Great outfit and hair, but most of us are drawn to the makeup. Wearing my own version today. Funny thing is, it’s on trend with the runways this season anyway… but Cassie is always ahead of the times (this aired back in 2007).
A closeup on Cassie’s shoes. So I spent a good hour last night figuring out what these were (searching the web, etc) and realized they’re UK tap shoes painted with gold and sprayed with gold glitter. They do sell the shoes in silver, but I assume these were white. I’m pretty sure the actress (Hannah Murray) wore the silver ones to a red carpet event as I’ve seen photos.
The TV show’s stylist says they’re Gamba shoes, but I can’t find Gamba taps. I did however find plenty of Roch Valley ones. They don’t sell them in the states. I’m thinking of making my own, but for some reason US tap shoes do not come as laceup mary janes. I found a few on ebay, but they were all black. Does anyone know where I can come across a white (canvas) pair? Ebay and Amazon UK sell them… but seeing as I live in the NYC area that’s not too helpful. After making these I would seriously wear them anywhere and everywhere.
More Skins… I finished the series over the weekend watching the last 1/2 of season 1 and all of season 2 on Sunday. It was a rainy day and while I had better things to do, I was hooked on the characters and story line…
My favorite episode in season 1 is Sid (episode 5). You learn a great deal about Sid and learn to love the guy rather than write him off as a lazy-but-loyal friend. Moreover, you get to delve deeper into Cassie’s character (the two are my favorite actually) and her wardrobe. To follow I’m posting some of Cassie’s best looks (makeup and otherwise). Most of them actually come from this one episode.
Makeup wise, I’m copying her look with the pink/red and turquoise eyeshadow today, just for kicks. I can’t wear funky makeup to work and typically I don’t have the cojones to leave the house wearing it, but today I am. I guess I’ve been inspired.
Up above… is a still from her “suicide” attempt. She’s just dancing around b/c she’s had too much Vodka and pills. The scene is beautiful… You get the notion she’s not really trying to kill herself, just get some attention. But what else do you expect from a pill-popping, recovering anorexic with a kick-ass closet full of whimsical clothes?
For my lovely coworker, Ashley, who is genuinely scared of red heads… these are some scary looking ones… though I typically like gingers.
